I'm sure things can get crazier, but I'm spent for now. The car, the virus, the emptying of our savings, pms, and now my step-dad has had a stroke. All within the last 5 days. God, can I have some "good" kind of crazy for awhile?
The high points to the last few days were listening to John Eldredge speak about hearing from God. He addressed all the aspects of hearing from God that I've tried to articulate in the past in a practical and simple way. Like testing all things through scripture, wisdom, and confirmation. Also the process of getting quiet before God (which usually entails making a list of all my random thoughts to set aside for later), asking God a question, and then surrendering or yielding to God (which takes a long time for me to flesh out all my emotions about the question at hand). I think I'll buy the book, "Walking with God", and if it's as good as his speaking, perhaps even a few extra copies to stash away for my girls too.
Also, we have been preparing for Emery's dedication by going through some material and it had us write down our top 5 values for our home and 2 habits in our home that are working to instill those values. I think all of us think about these things, but it brings a lot of unity in our parenting decisions to have them written down to refer to.
