Today was my first plane ride in 3 1/2 years. Things have changed. I can't remember being out by myself in a public place as crowded as the Atlanta airport. Making decisions based on my preferences was an adjustment I didn't expect to be so complicated. I found myself circling the little food court area unable to decide what to eat, so I figured I'd head tot he terminal and catch something there, post-security. Next I found myself rearranging my belongings in the security bin. I couldn't get everything to fit in there like the video showed it should be. At this point I told myself to relax and it would be fine. I wasn't going to get in trouble if my cell phone was on top of my shoes. Even as I type this I think to myself.."seriously Jen, that doesn't sound anything like you". Yes I like to be prepared, but not obsessively so.
On to the plane ride. I was a little afraid, I mean when your up in the sky and your plane sounds like a dirt bike with wings, it's not the most assuring feeling. Fortunately, I just turned on the ipod and listened to some relaxing music. (thanks to my husband) I also started reading a book called "Scream Free Parenting". I'm a little sceptical at the moment, but we'll see how it turns out.
I'm going to bed to get some uninterrupted rest now. I think this vacation will be a very healthy one. Apparently, I need it.

I hope you had a restful trip and enjoyed your time with your mom and Doug! Maybe a little sun and stuff. I know that Jamie and the girls will be thankful and happy to see you. A hint on the noise on a plane ... the closer to the front that you can geta seat the better and quieter your ride will be. Hope all went well! Missed you at dinner the other night =) Love Ya, Lori
