We had a great Thanksgiving with most of the Brewer fam. There are mostly boys and the girls never want to come home after visiting because they LOVE playing outside and being tomboys with the guys. Especially uncle T and BB, who are both young teenagers. The food was amazing and I am kicking myself because in the sheer excitement of eating the delicious food I forgot to take a picture!!!
The german choc cake was good, but probably most noted for it's durability. For those of you who do not have young kids, it is quite the challenge to bake anything from scratch with young ones around. As I was pulling the cake out of the oven, my sister got here to take the girls to her house so I could finish gettingthings readyt o go. So what was suppose to be 15 min from oven to out of cake pan turned into an hour. When I went to flip them out of the cake pans 2 of the 3 layers stuck and came out in 3 or more pieces.

This is where I usually freak out and get mad and throw the whole thing away, but I dug my heel sin and said "o.k. don't freak, maybe we can piece it together and use the icing as glue" So I did just that and threw it in the freezer hoping it would set before we left in an hour. So far success. It was suppose to take us 2.5 to 3 hours to get there and we were making it o.k. till we sat in traffic for an extra hour b/c of a car fire on 20 east. I froze Jamie out running the AC at our feet to keep the cake cold and therefore holding together. I thought I was in the clear till right before dinner, Jamie heard a thud and someone said, "Uh oh, there went a cake." It got knocked off onto the floor. Dang it. Believe it or not, I opened it up and ta da, it still looked normal. That icing took the challenge and went above and beyond its call of duty!

It was a great time with family and it always makes me wish we got together more often. Bella seems to always get attached to something wherever we go. This time there was a life size plastic white duck that she toted around everywhere. Emery just wanted to be outside all the time. I have to say I am always ready for Christmas by the time Thanksgiving is over. The ladies in the fam always brave black Friday to get some good stinkin deals. I could go this year, but just searching the sale papers was so fun and made me sad I couldn't go. It is always expected that everyone comes to Thanksgiving with their wish list. We draw names and then pass the lists around. I love the way this family gets so excited to get each other something special that they know the other person really wants. It is really great. It makes the giving so much more fun than the receiving.
We headed back home and I worked black Friday and Saturday. It was ridiculous. People are nuts. It was awesome at work b/c we had Munson on the radio in the stock room so we could hear the Dawgs beat up on the Jackets. Go #4 Dawgs! That's about it for the Thanksgiving fun times.
