In the mind of Jen

Sorry, I've been busy with fevers and ER visits and grandparent birthdays ... So I've been trying to think about what to write about. My mind is full of a million things. I've been sewing a lot trying to get the second of 2 dresses finished to put online to sell. For those of you who don't know, I like to sew. Previously I've been making baby quilts and now am moving into the world of dresses for babies to little girls. I'll post more about it when things get rolling, so get ready to tell all your friends, HA! My company is called .....

It's a combo of my girls' nicknames. I am starting out small and plan to post a link to the website when I get it up and running with the dresses. So much time has been devoted to that end.
Also I am joining my husband, Jamie, in an effort to get healthier. So I've been trying to walk 3 miles 2-3 times a week or more when schedules permit. I am enjoying it a lot more than I thought. Last time we did a big strict diet I overwhelmed myself with cooking "healthy" meals EVERY night and cooking ahead for snacks and lunches in addition to what the girls ate. This time I grill a bunch of chicken and we have plenty of lettuce, apples, south beach diet bars and turkey too. So things are going much more smooth. I am so proud of Jamie! He's lost over 10 lbs in 10 days! I am... well...feeling much healthier. I don't plan on losing much, but trying to get back some muscle and toning my body. It has been much more difficult to bounce back after baby#2. I think it's my body's way of saying "we ain't doing this pregnancy thing again anytime soon if I have anything to say about it". So for now its protein drinks, grilled chicken and turkey. (with an occasional chick-fil-a #1 combo with a sweet tea)
We are leading a small group and starting the iMarriage series from Northpoint's resources next week. Should be great. Jamie and I will be the first ones to tell you we don't have this marriage thing figured out, but we can point you to some really good resources that have helped us out thus far. Song of Solomon conference was great when we first got married. Sheet Music was ..hmmm..embarrassingly good in an awkward-to-talk-about-with-each-other way. The "Celebrate Differences" Married Life Live at Northpoint was great for our communication. The LO$T series by Andy Stanley was ridiculously great for our finances. The Intimate Encounters 12 wk class offered at our church among many other churches was amazing and in my opinion should be taken by every married couple.
On a different note, I am looking for a good book to read. I am looking for a practical application relating to my walk with God. Either parenting, as woman/mom, or even just as a follower of Christ. I think my favorite book that I have read has been Beth Moore's newest "Get Out of that Pit". I just love her writing. It's like sitting in a Starbucks chatting over coffee with Jesus right there between the two of us. So I'd love some comments relating to recommended reading!
In fact, what is your favorite book?

I don't know about a favorite, but Hearing From God by Dallas Willard was a good one I just read.
